Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400 Hardtop Cab 11728
Work through cold, rain, snow, sleet, and wind with Original Tractor Cab Hardtop Cab 11728. This model-fit weather enclosure is made for the Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400 sub-compact tractor.
The SC2400 can work in every season. However, its open operator station leaves the driver exposed when the weather turns bad.
Cab 11728 adds a hard roof and clear enclosure around much of the operator area. Therefore, you can gain useful weather protection while keeping a wide view of the tractor and work area.
This is an aftermarket cab made by Original Tractor Cab Co., Inc. It is built for weather protection and operator comfort, not rollover, impact, or debris protection.
Original Tractor Cab 11728 for the Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400
The Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400 is a small tractor with the ability to handle many property jobs. It can mow, move material, clear snow, and work with compatible attachments.
Yet cold and wet weather can make those jobs less pleasant. So, Cab 11728 adds a model-fit enclosure for owners who want to use their SC2400 in more seasons.
The result is simple: more coverage for the operator.
Designed for the SC2400
Cab 11728 is designed around the Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400 platform. Therefore, the enclosure is not just a loose universal tractor cover.
Model-fit brackets and cab parts help place the enclosure around the normal operator station. Still, owners should confirm the exact tractor configuration before ordering.
Added equipment can affect fit.
Hardtop Weather Protection
A solid hardtop covers the operator from above. This can be useful when snow or rain falls during tractor work.
Unlike a simple sunshade, Cab 11728 also encloses much of the front, sides, and rear operator area. As a result, the cab helps reduce direct exposure to more than overhead weather.
The enclosure is not fully sealed.
Hard Roof for Year-Round Tractor Work
The roof gives the cab a firm upper structure. Meanwhile, it helps block rain, snow, sleet, and direct overhead sun.
A hardtop can also hold its shape better than a loose fabric roof. However, it does add height to the tractor.
Check overhead clearance after installation.
Clear Cab Panels Help Maintain Visibility
A tractor operator needs a wide view. Therefore, Cab 11728 uses clear enclosure material around key viewing areas.
This helps the driver see the path ahead, the sides of the tractor, and the area behind the seat. Good visibility is especially important when working near buildings, vehicles, trees, or attachments.
Keep every clear panel clean.
Visibility During Snow Removal
Snow can collect on a tractor cab quickly. So, stop and clean the viewing area when snow or ice starts to block your sight.
Never continue driving simply because the tractor can still move. A clear view is more important than finishing the job fast.
Slow down when visibility drops.
Help Block Cold Winter Wind
Wind can make an open tractor feel much colder than the air temperature alone suggests. Therefore, an enclosure can add useful comfort during winter work.
Cab 11728 helps reduce direct wind around much of the operator area. Still, cold air can enter through normal openings.
The cab does not contain a heater.
Dress for the Weather
A cab can help with wind and blowing snow. However, it does not replace proper winter clothing.
Wear suitable gloves, boots, and warm clothing during cold work. In addition, take breaks when conditions call for them.
Operator comfort starts with safe preparation.
SC2400 Rain Protection
Rain does not always mean the work can wait. Cab 11728 helps shield the operator from much of the rain that reaches the tractor from above, front, and sides.
However, the enclosure is not a sealed waterproof room. Wind-driven rain and moisture can enter around openings.
Stop work during dangerous storms.
SC2400 Snow Protection
Snow removal is one of the jobs where a tractor cab can add real value. Without an enclosure, the operator can face blowing snow during every pass.
Cab 11728 helps put a clear barrier between the driver and much of that winter weather. Therefore, long snow jobs can feel less exposed.
Always keep the forward view clear.
Help Reduce Exposure to Sleet
Sleet can strike the operator and cover tractor surfaces with ice. The cab helps block some direct sleet around the normal seating area.
Still, freezing moisture can collect on the enclosure. So, remove ice before it blocks visibility or affects a door or other cab part.
Never operate with a blocked view.
Cab 11728 Is Not Certified Hail Protection
The hard roof can provide overhead weather coverage. However, Cab 11728 is not a certified hail or falling-object protective structure.
Therefore, seek safe shelter during severe hail, lightning, or high winds. Do not remain outdoors simply because the cab is installed.
The product is made for normal weather protection.
Weather Protection Without Replacing the Tractor Safety System
Cab 11728 surrounds the operator, but it is not a safety cage. Its frame and roof do not replace factory tractor safety equipment.
Therefore, follow every Cub Cadet Yanmar or Yanmar safety instruction for the SC2400. Keep required guards, shields, and restraints in place.
Never modify safety equipment to install a cab.
Cab 11728 Is Not Rollover Protection
The cab does not provide certified rollover protection. Likewise, it should never be treated as a substitute for a ROPS where the tractor uses one.
Never drill, weld, cut, bend, or remove a safety structure to make the cab fit. If the tractor configuration does not match the instructions, stop the installation.
Confirm fit before making any change.
Cab 11728 Is Not Debris Protection
Tractors can encounter sticks, stones, loader material, and other objects. However, the enclosure is not a certified impact or debris shield.
Therefore, do not rely on the roof or clear panels to stop thrown objects. Always keep people away from active attachments and the tractor work area.
Use all factory guards as directed.
Use Care Around Tree Limbs
A hardtop adds height to the SC2400. As a result, low branches can strike the cab even when they once cleared the open tractor.
Watch the roof when working near trees. Likewise, check garage doors, sheds, trailers, and other overhead structures.
Never guess at close clearance.
Check Installed Tractor Height
The safest clearance measurement is the height of your actual tractor after Cab 11728 is installed.
Tire size, inflation, attachments, and ground conditions can affect final height. Therefore, measure the complete machine before entering a low building.
Write the height down for future use.
Cab 11728 and Front Loader Work
The SC2400 can use compatible front loader equipment. A loader makes the tractor useful for mulch, soil, gravel, snow, and other loose material.
However, loader work requires a clear view of the bucket and work area. Therefore, confirm that the cab does not block any needed sight line.
Never exceed the tractor or loader limits.
Keep Loader Controls Clear
The operator must have full movement of every loader control. So, test the controls after cab installation.
Make sure no frame, door, panel, or mounting part interferes with the joystick or other control. Correct any problem before starting work.
Control access must remain normal.
Cab 11728 and Snowblower Work
A compatible front snowblower can turn the SC2400 into a useful winter machine. Meanwhile, Cab 11728 can help keep blowing snow away from the driver.
This combination can make the tractor useful after mowing season ends. However, attachment compatibility must be checked separately from cab fit.
Never assume two accessories work together.
Keep Snow Discharge Away From the Cab
A snowblower can throw snow, ice, and hidden objects with great force. Therefore, keep the discharge chute aimed away from the cab and other people.
Cab 11728 is not a debris shield. Stop the tractor before clearing any blocked snow equipment.
Follow the attachment manual at all times.
Cab 11728 and Front Blade Work
A front blade can help move snow from drives, lanes, and other areas. The cab can make that work more comfortable by reducing direct wind and snow exposure.
Still, a blade changes tractor length, weight, and handling. Therefore, follow the correct ballast and operating guidance for the attachment.
Drive slowly near buildings and parked vehicles.
Use Care on Snow and Ice
Four-wheel drive can improve traction, but it cannot eliminate sliding. Likewise, a cab cannot protect the operator from every result of a loss of control.
So, reduce speed on ice and slopes. Avoid unsafe terrain and use approved traction equipment when needed.
Safe travel comes before fast snow removal.
Cab 11728 and Mower Work
The SC2400 can also work as a mowing tractor with compatible equipment. Therefore, owners may choose to leave the enclosure installed beyond winter.
However, warm weather can raise the temperature inside an enclosed operator area. Open the cab as allowed and take breaks when needed.
Watch for heat stress during summer work.
Keep Engine Cooling Air Clear
The cab must never block tractor cooling air. Likewise, no enclosure material should contact the engine, exhaust, or another hot component.
Inspect the installation before each season. Stop the tractor if any cab part shifts toward a hot area.
Keep all engine vents clear.
Care for the Clear Cab Material
Clear panels need gentle cleaning. First, rinse away loose dirt that could scratch the surface.
Then, use mild soap, water, and a soft clean cloth. Avoid harsh solvents and rough brushes unless the current cab instructions specifically approve them.
Good care helps preserve visibility.
Store Removed Cab Parts Carefully
Some owners may remove enclosure parts during warm weather. If you do, clean and dry them before storage.
Avoid sharp folds in clear flexible material. Also, keep heavy or sharp objects away from stored cab parts.
Dry storage can help extend useful life.
Inspect the Cab Before Each Season
A seasonal inspection can catch small issues before they become larger problems. Check the frame, brackets, roof, fasteners, doors, and clear panels.
Next, make sure every tractor control moves normally. Also, check that the cab does not interfere with an attachment.
Repair damaged parts before use.
Check Fasteners After Initial Use
Tractor vibration can settle newly installed hardware. Therefore, inspect the cab mounting points after the first few work sessions.
Tighten hardware only to the values or methods given in the current instructions. Do not overtighten parts simply because the tractor vibrates.
Regular checks help keep the installation secure.

Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400 Tractor Specifications
The SC2400 is a sub-compact utility tractor produced during the Cub Cadet Yanmar partnership era.
Its small size makes it useful around homes, acreage, landscaping, and light property work. Meanwhile, diesel power, four-wheel drive, a three-point hitch, and PTO equipment give it more ability than a typical lawn tractor.
Exact specifications should always be checked against the tractor serial number and operator manual.
Yanmar Three-Cylinder Diesel Engine
The SC2400 uses a Yanmar three-cylinder, liquid-cooled diesel engine. Published specifications identify the engine as the Yanmar 3TNV76.
This engine has a displacement of about 1.116 liters, or about 68.1 cubic inches. Therefore, the tractor combines a compact engine package with useful diesel power.
The engine uses indirect fuel injection.
About 24 Gross Horsepower
Published SC2400 specifications rate the tractor at about 24 gross engine horsepower.
That level of power suits the sub-compact tractor class. As a result, the SC2400 can perform mowing, loader, snow, and light implement work with the correct equipment.
Attachment demand still affects available power.
Liquid-Cooled Diesel Design
Liquid cooling helps manage engine temperature during tractor work. The system uses a radiator and coolant rather than relying on air alone.
Therefore, radiator cleanliness matters during mowing and dusty work. Grass, seeds, and debris can reduce airflow.
Check the cooling area as the tractor manual directs.
Diesel Fuel for Work and Torque
Diesel engines are well suited to compact tractor work. The SC2400 engine provides useful low-speed power for attachments and property jobs.
However, cold weather calls for proper diesel fuel and starting procedures. Therefore, follow Yanmar guidance when temperatures fall.
Never use unsafe starting fluids.
Hydrostatic Transmission
The SC2400 uses a hydrostatic transmission. This gives the operator smooth travel speed control without a conventional manual gear transmission.
Hydrostatic drive can be useful during loader work, mowing, and snow removal. For example, the operator can change travel speed as the load or terrain changes.
Always select a safe travel range.
Two-Range Hydrostatic Drive
Published SC2400 data describes a two-range hydrostatic transmission. The ranges let the operator choose a lower range for work or a higher range for suitable travel.
Therefore, the tractor can adapt to different jobs without a complex manual shift pattern.
Use low range when the work calls for more control.
Four-Wheel Drive
The SC2400 uses four-wheel drive. This can improve traction during loader work, snow removal, and travel on loose surfaces.
However, four-wheel drive does not make every slope or icy area safe. Therefore, reduce speed and follow the tractor manual on difficult terrain.
Traction and stability are different issues.
Four-Wheel Drive for Snow Removal
Winter work can make four-wheel drive especially useful. Snow and ice reduce the grip available at each tire.
So, power to the front and rear wheels can help the tractor move through difficult conditions. Tire chains or approved ballast may also help on some setups.
Use only equipment suited to the tractor.
SC2400 Power Steering
The SC2400 uses power steering. That feature can reduce steering effort during mowing, loader work, and other jobs.
Power steering is especially helpful when a front attachment adds weight. Still, a loaded bucket changes the tractor's balance and steering feel.
Keep loads low during travel.
Compact Tractor Maneuverability
A sub-compact tractor is made to work where a larger farm tractor may feel too big. Therefore, the SC2400 can fit many residential and acreage jobs.
However, Cab 11728 adds height and some width around the operator station. Allow extra room around buildings and trees.
Know the complete machine size after installation.
SC2400 Three-Point Hitch
The tractor uses a rear Category I three-point hitch for compatible implements. This gives the SC2400 access to many small tractor tools.
However, implement weight and geometry matter. Therefore, never assume that every Category I attachment is suitable simply because the hitch pins fit.
Follow tractor and implement limits.
Rear Implement Work
Rear implements can extend far behind the tractor. As a result, the operator needs a clear view when backing or turning.
Cab 11728 should preserve that view through its rear area. Stop work if dirt, snow, or damage blocks visibility.
Always look behind the tractor before moving.
540 RPM Rear PTO
The SC2400 provides a standard 540 rpm rear PTO for compatible powered implements.
This expands the tractor's ability beyond simple towing. However, a rotating PTO shaft can cause severe injury.
Keep all PTO guards and shields in place.
Mid PTO Capability
Published SC2400 specifications also identify a mid PTO for compatible equipment. This supports applications such as a mid-mount mower and other approved equipment.
Therefore, the tractor can handle both rear and mid-mounted powered attachments.
Use only the correct PTO speed for each implement.
SC2400 Hydraulic System
Hydraulic power supports steering, the three-point hitch, and compatible attachments.
A front loader depends on that system for lifting and bucket control. Therefore, clean hydraulic fluid and proper maintenance matter for reliable tractor work.
Follow the service intervals in the tractor manual.
Loader Work With the SC2400
The SC2400 was offered with compatible front loader equipment. This makes the tractor useful for moving soil, mulch, snow, and other loose material.
However, a loader raises the tractor's center of gravity when the bucket is high. So, carry loads low and drive slowly.
Never use Cab 11728 as loader impact protection.
SC2400 Mid-Mount Mower Capability
The SC2400 can use compatible mid-mount mowing equipment. Published information commonly associates the tractor with 48-inch and 60-inch mower deck options, depending on configuration.
That allows the tractor to serve as both a work machine and a large-area mower.
Always confirm deck fit by tractor and deck model.
Large-Lawn Mowing
A 60-inch deck can cover a wide path on open lawns. In contrast, a smaller deck may fit tighter areas more easily.
The correct choice depends on property size and obstacles. Likewise, mowing speed should match grass and terrain conditions.
Slow down on rough ground.
SC2400 Wheelbase and Compact Size
Published specifications place the SC2400 wheelbase at about 57.5 inches. This short wheelbase supports the compact nature of the tractor.
Overall dimensions can change with tires and attachments. Therefore, measure the actual tractor when clearance is important.
Cab 11728 changes the operator-area dimensions as well.
Tractor Weight
Published data places the bare SC2400 tractor weight at roughly 1,300 pounds, depending on configuration.
A loader, mower deck, ballast, cab, fuel, and other equipment add more weight. As a result, trailer and floor load calculations should use the actual equipped tractor.
Never plan transport from bare weight alone.
SC2400 Fuel Capacity
Published SC2400 specifications list a diesel fuel capacity of about 6.3 gallons.
That capacity supports extended property work without making the tractor unnecessarily large. However, fuel use changes with load, engine speed, and attachment demand.
Refuel only with the engine safely shut down.
Safe Diesel Refueling
Fuel can burn and spilled diesel can create a slip hazard. Therefore, let hot equipment cool as directed before refueling.
Clean spills promptly and keep fuel away from flames. Likewise, use only clean fuel approved for the engine.
Store fuel safely.
SC2400 Braking and Parking
A compact tractor must be secured before the operator leaves the seat. Therefore, use the parking brake and follow the shutdown procedure in the operator manual.
Lower attachments before leaving the tractor. Also, choose firm and level ground when possible.
Never trust the cab to hold an unattended machine.
SC2400 Tire and Ballast Choices
Tire type can change how the tractor performs on turf, soil, mud, and snow. Likewise, ballast can affect loader stability and traction.
Therefore, use tire and ballast combinations approved for the tractor and attachment. Too much or poorly placed weight can create new problems.
Follow the machine limits.
Winter Tire Traction
Snow and ice can reduce traction even on a four-wheel-drive tractor. Therefore, some owners use approved chains or other traction aids.
Make sure any chain has clearance from the tractor and Cab 11728 mounting hardware. Stop use if contact occurs.
Check clearance through the full wheel movement.
SC2400 Safety Around Slopes
A compact tractor can overturn on unsafe slopes. Therefore, understand the terrain before driving across or up a grade.
Attachments, loads, holes, wet grass, ice, and speed can all affect stability. Cab 11728 does not reduce rollover risk.
Follow the SC2400 operator manual for safe slope use.
Keep Heavy Loads Low
A raised loader bucket increases the tractor's center of gravity. So, carry loads as low as practical during travel.
Slow down before turns and rough ground. In addition, use the correct rear ballast when the loader instructions call for it.
Never exceed rated capacity.
SC2400 Specifications Can Vary
The SC2400 is an older tractor, and individual machines may now have replacement parts or owner-added equipment.
Therefore, use published specifications as a guide rather than proof of the current setup of every tractor. The serial number and actual machine should always control service decisions.
This is also important when confirming Cab 11728 fit.

The History of Original Tractor Cab Company
Original Tractor Cab began in Indiana in 1939. The company started because farmer Stanley Williams wanted better weather protection while working on his tractor.
So, Stanley built a cab for his own use. Other farmers saw it and wanted the same kind of protection.
A practical farm solution soon became a business.
Stanley Williams Builds His First Tractor Cab
Open tractors exposed farmers to rain, wind, snow, cold, and sun. Stanley Williams knew those problems from daily farm work.
Therefore, he created a product to solve a need he understood firsthand. His cab helped place a barrier between the operator and harsh weather.
Other farmers quickly saw its value.
A Farm Magazine Ad Helps the Company Grow
Stanley placed a small advertisement in a farm magazine. Soon, interest came from people beyond his local area.
As a result, his cab idea developed into a manufacturing business. Original Tractor Cab traces its beginning to 1939.
The company grew from real farm experience.
Original Tractor Cab During World War II
World War II changed the work of the young company. Normal cab production gave way to manufacturing that supported the war effort.
Original Tractor Cab produced packs and other needed goods during this period. After the war, the company returned to products for farmers and outdoor equipment users.
Its manufacturing skills continued to grow.
Outdoor Power Equipment Creates New Opportunities
Equipment changed rapidly after the war. Garden tractors, lawn tractors, snowblowers, compact tractors, and new types of machines became common.
Therefore, Original Tractor Cab expanded beyond its early large tractor products. New machines created new needs for weather protection.
The company followed those needs.
Robert Williams Develops the Snowblower Cab
During the 1960s, Stanley's son Robert Williams saw a problem faced by walk-behind snowblower operators.
Blowing snow and cold wind often came straight back toward the person running the machine. So, Robert developed and patented a cab for walk-behind snowblowers.
That idea opened another product category.
Lawn and Garden Tractor Cabs Follow
Small tractors became more capable. As a result, people used them for mowing, snow removal, hauling, and many other property jobs.
Original Tractor Cab began serving this market as well. The company created weather enclosures for a growing range of lawn and garden machines.
Model-fit designs became an important part of the line.
Wayne Williams Adds the Sunshade
Cold weather was not the only challenge for outdoor operators. Summer sun also made long tractor and mower jobs less comfortable.
Therefore, Stanley's grandson Wayne Williams developed and patented a sunshade in the early 1990s. The new product helped extend operator coverage into warm weather.
Original Tractor Cab now served more seasons.
Three Generations of the Williams Family
Three generations of the Williams family helped shape Original Tractor Cab. Stanley began the company, Robert expanded its product ideas, and Wayne added another major product category.
Each generation responded to changing equipment. However, the basic goal remained simple.
Help people work outside with more comfort.
From Farm Tractors to the Cub Cadet Yanmar SC2400
The SC2400 would have looked very different from Stanley Williams' tractor in 1939. Yet its operator still sits outside in the same rain, snow, sleet, wind, and sun.
Therefore, Cab 11728 carries an old idea into a newer class of machine. It brings model-fit weather protection to a compact diesel tractor.
The need has lasted even as the equipment changed.
Made in the USA Since 1939
Original Tractor Cab remains based in Arlington, Indiana. Today, the company makes tractor cabs, mower enclosures, snowblower cabs, sunshades, and related products.
Its product line serves many brands and many types of outdoor equipment. Meanwhile, direct sales make it easier for owners to buy from the company that makes the product.
Cab 11728 is part of that long manufacturing history.
