Fitment

John Deere: 3120, 3320, 3520, 3720

Cab Height: 88" from ground to top when installed.

This cab will make your winter chores a lot more safe without the worries of getting frostbite during the job. These hard top cabs will keep you protected from the wind, blowing snow, rain, and sleet that make winter tractor operation miserable. Constructed with a 16 gauge steel tube frame for structural integrity. The exterior combines tear-resistant vinyl fabric with superior weather sealing—resists abrasion, water, fire, mildew, and rot. Windows are made from shatter-resistant Lexan that maintains clarity and strength in sub-zero temperatures.

John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520 & 3720 Hardtop Cab 40291

Keep your John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520, or 3720 working when rain, snow, sleet, and cold wind arrive. Original Tractor Cab 40291 is a model-fit hardtop cab for John Deere 3X20 Series compact utility tractors. So, you can add useful weather protection to a tractor that already works hard on your property.

A molded ABS plastic roof gives you firm cover from above. Meanwhile, clear shatter-resistant Lexan side doors and a clear rear curtain help keep a wide view around the tractor. A safety glass windshield and electric windshield wiper come with Cab 40291.

Installation is simple for a model-fit enclosure. In fact, normal installation takes about three to four hours, and you do not need to drill holes in the tractor. The cab mounts use existing tractor holes.

Cab 40291 is made in the USA and carries a one-year warranty. Therefore, owners of these popular John Deere compact tractors can add weather cover with a cab made by Original Tractor Cab.

Hardtop Cab for John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520 and 3720 Tractors

John Deere built the 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720 as useful compact utility tractors. Owners use them for loader work, snow removal, mowing, grading, hauling, and many other jobs. Yet an open operator station leaves the driver exposed to bad weather.

Rain can soak clothing fast. Likewise, cold wind can make a long job hard. Blowing snow may also come back toward the seat during winter work.

Cab 40291 adds a weather barrier around much of the operator station. As a result, less direct rain, snow, sleet, and wind can reach the driver.

Fits the John Deere 3X20 Series

Original Tractor Cab designed Cab 40291 for the John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720 compact utility tractors. These machines share the 3X20 tractor platform.

A model-fit design matters because tractor controls, fenders, ROPS parts, and operator areas differ from one tractor family to another. Therefore, Cab 40291 uses mounting parts made around this group of Deere tractors.

Always confirm the tractor model before you order. Also, inspect a used tractor for owner-added equipment that could affect cab fit.

Molded ABS Plastic Hardtop

Cab 40291 uses a molded ABS plastic roof. So, the operator gets a firm hardtop instead of a soft fabric roof.

The roof gives useful overhead cover from normal rain, snow, and sleet. In addition, the rigid top helps the cab keep its shape.

The ABS roof is for weather protection only. It is not a falling-object guard or impact shield.

Safety Glass Windshield Is Included

Cab 40291 includes a safety glass windshield. Therefore, you do not need to buy the glass windshield as a separate upgrade for this cab.

Glass gives the operator a clear forward view of the tractor's work area. It also provides the correct surface for the included electric windshield wiper.

Keep the glass clean before each job. A clear windshield is vital when you work near a road, building, vehicle, tree, person, or other object.

Electric Windshield Wiper Is Included

An electric windshield wiper also comes with Cab 40291. This feature can help clear water and wet snow from the safety glass windshield.

The wiper adds value during changing winter weather. For example, snow may turn wet as the temperature rises.

A wiper cannot keep the glass clear in every storm. So, stop the tractor if snow, ice, fog, or dirt blocks your view.

Forward-Sloped Windshield

The Cab 40291 windshield slopes forward. Original Tractor Cab uses this angle to help reduce glare and contact with falling rain and snow.

The forward slope also gives the cab a practical shape around the operator station. Meanwhile, the large glass area keeps the front work zone in view.

Good visibility is still the operator's job. Therefore, never work when you cannot clearly see the area around the tractor.

Clear Shatter-Resistant Lexan Side Doors

Side visibility matters during loader and snow work. So, Cab 40291 uses clear shatter-resistant Lexan plastic in the side doors.

The clear material helps you see the ground and equipment beside the tractor. At the same time, the doors help block direct wind, rain, sleet, and blowing snow.

Lexan is tough, but it is not a debris shield. Never rely on the doors to stop stones, branches, loader material, or flying objects.

Clear Rear Curtain

Wind and snow can also reach the operator from behind. Therefore, Cab 40291 uses clear shatter-resistant Lexan plastic in the rear curtain.

The rear panel helps close much of the operator area while preserving rear visibility. As a result, the cab provides more weather coverage than the open tractor station.

Always turn and look before backing. A clear rear curtain does not remove blind spots.

Hinged Doors With Latches

Cab 40291 uses hinged doors with latches. Thus, getting into and out of the cab is quick and simple.

Door latches also help hold the enclosure in its proper position during normal tractor use. Therefore, inspect the hinges and latches as part of routine cab care.

Never use the tractor if a loose door blocks a control, exit, or required field of view.

No Drilling for Normal Installation

Original Tractor Cab designed Cab 40291 to use existing tractor holes. As a result, normal installation does not require drilling into the tractor.

This model-fit approach makes installation cleaner. Likewise, it avoids many permanent changes to the machine.

Always use the correct brackets and hardware. Never drill, weld, cut, or alter the tractor ROPS or another factory safety part to make the cab fit.

Three to Four Hour Installation

Original Tractor Cab lists about three to four hours for normal Cab 40291 installation. Actual time can vary with tools, experience, and tractor condition.

Read the full installation manual before you start. Then, lay out the frame parts, enclosure pieces, and hardware.

Careful assembly helps prevent missed hardware or incorrect bracket placement.

Rain Protection for John Deere 3X20 Tractors

Cold rain can turn a simple tractor job into an unpleasant task. Water may hit the operator from above, in front, and from the sides.

Cab 40291 puts an ABS roof, glass windshield, clear doors, and rear enclosure around much of the operator station. Therefore, it helps reduce direct exposure to normal rain.

The enclosure is not a sealed automotive cab. Still, it gives the operator far more cover than an open station.

Snow Protection for John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520 and 3720

These John Deere compact tractors can remain useful through winter. Owners may use a loader, blade, snow blower, or other approved attachment to move snow.

However, wind can send fine snow back toward the tractor. Cab 40291 helps block much of that direct snow. Meanwhile, the included electric wiper can help clear wet snow from the glass windshield.

Snow and ice still reduce traction. So, use safe speed and the ballast or traction equipment required for your tractor and attachment.

Sleet and Cold Wind Protection

Sleet can strike exposed skin and clothing. Likewise, cold wind can make long tractor work much harder.

Cab 40291 creates a barrier around much of the operator station. As a result, direct sleet and wind have less contact with the driver.

The enclosure is not insulated or heated. Therefore, always dress for the actual outside temperature.

A Useful Cab for Loader Work

Loader work often requires many forward and reverse moves. It may also keep the operator outside for a long time.

The clear windshield, doors, and rear curtain help maintain a broad view. Meanwhile, the enclosure helps reduce direct exposure to cold wind.

Cab 40291 does not protect against a falling loader load. Never stand or work under a raised loader, and never rely on the cab for impact protection.

A Useful Cab for Snow Removal

Snow removal may require repeated trips across the same drive, lane, or lot. During that time, loose snow can swirl around the tractor.

Cab 40291 helps shield the operator from much of that direct snow. In addition, the hard roof gives firm overhead cover.

Keep the safety glass windshield clear. Also, stop work when weather keeps you from seeing the full work area.

Weather Protection Without Replacing the Tractor

Many John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720 tractors remain productive machines. Therefore, an owner may want more weather cover without buying a newer tractor.

Cab 40291 adds a model-fit hardtop enclosure to the tractor you already own. So, you can improve operator weather protection while keeping a familiar machine.

That can be especially useful for a tractor that already has the attachments needed for year-round work.

Remove Vinyl Panels Before Open Transport

The Cab 40291 installation manual gives an important transport rule. Remove the vinyl panels before hauling the tractor on an open truck or trailer.

Road-speed airflow is far stronger than normal tractor travel. As a result, the wind can damage flexible enclosure material.

After transport, reinstall the panels as the instructions direct. Then, inspect the frame and hardware before using the tractor.

Keep the Cab Well Ventilated

A diesel tractor produces exhaust gases. Therefore, never run the tractor in a closed garage, shed, trailer, or other confined area without proper ventilation.

A weather enclosure can change airflow around the operator. So, inspect the tractor exhaust system and watch for fumes entering the cab.

Stop the engine at once if exhaust collects around the operator.

Cab 40291 Is Not a Rollover Cab

The tractor ROPS is a factory safety system. Cab 40291 does not replace it.

Never cut, drill, weld, bend, remove, or weaken the ROPS to install this cab. Likewise, use the seat belt and ROPS as John Deere directs.

The ABS roof, cab frame, windshield, doors, and rear curtain provide weather protection only.

Care for the Clear Cab Panels

Good care helps clear plastic stay useful. First, rinse loose dirt away before you wipe a clear panel.

Next, wash it with plenty of clean water and mild soap. Avoid harsh cleaners or rough materials that may scratch or cloud the plastic.

Store flexible panels clean and dry. Also, avoid sharp folds in the clear material.

One-Year Warranty

Original Tractor Cab states that Cab 40291 carries a one-year warranty. The written warranty terms and exclusions still apply.

Keep your proof of purchase. In addition, install and use the enclosure as the current instructions direct.

Unauthorized changes, misuse, neglect, or accident damage may affect warranty coverage.

John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520 and 3720 Tractor Specifications

John Deere grouped the 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720 into its 3X20 Series compact utility tractor family. All four use three-cylinder Yanmar diesel engines.

The tractors share many core features. For example, John Deere lists mechanical front-wheel drive as standard on all four models. Power steering, wet disc brakes, a Category I three-point hitch, and independent PTO systems also support a wide range of work.

Power is the main difference across the four models. The 3120 starts at 29.5 gross horsepower, while the 3720 reaches 43.7 gross horsepower.

John Deere 3120 Specifications

29.5 Horsepower Yanmar Diesel Engine

The John Deere 3120 uses a Yanmar 3TNV84 three-cylinder diesel engine. John Deere rates gross engine power at 29.5 horsepower.

Engine displacement is 1.5 liters, or about 91.5 cubic inches. Rated engine speed is 2,600 rpm.

The engine uses liquid cooling, direct diesel fuel delivery, and an air heater for starting aid.

22 PTO Horsepower With eHydro

John Deere lists estimated PTO output at 22 horsepower for the 3120 eHydro. That power can run many properly matched compact tractor implements.

PTO power is lower than gross engine power because the drivetrain uses part of the engine output. Therefore, always match an implement to PTO horsepower, not just engine horsepower.

Keep all PTO guards and shields in place during use.

John Deere 3320 Specifications

32.4 Horsepower Yanmar Diesel Engine

The John Deere 3320 uses a Yanmar 3TNV88 three-cylinder diesel engine. Deere rates gross power at 32.4 horsepower.

Unlike the other three models, the 3320 uses 1.64 liters of displacement, or about 100.1 cubic inches. Rated speed remains 2,600 rpm.

This naturally aspirated diesel gives the 3320 more gross power than the 3120.

25 to 25.5 PTO Horsepower

PTO output varies with transmission. Deere lists about 25 horsepower for the 3320 eHydro and about 25.5 horsepower for the PowrReverser version.

That small difference matters when an implement works near the tractor's PTO limit. So, identify the transmission before matching demanding PTO equipment.

Use the implement maker's minimum power requirement as part of the fit check.

John Deere 3520 Specifications

37.2 Horsepower Turbocharged Yanmar Diesel

The John Deere 3520 uses a Yanmar 3TNV84T three-cylinder diesel. The letter T marks an important change: the 3520 engine uses a turbocharger.

John Deere rates gross power at 37.2 horsepower. Engine displacement is 1.5 liters, or about 91.5 cubic inches.

Rated engine speed is 2,600 rpm. Thus, the 3520 adds more power while keeping a similar compact tractor size.

30 to 30.5 PTO Horsepower

John Deere lists about 30 PTO horsepower for a 3520 eHydro. The PowrReverser version is rated near 30.5 PTO horsepower.

That output expands the range of properly matched PTO equipment. However, tractor weight and implement balance remain just as important.

Never choose an implement by horsepower alone.

John Deere 3720 Specifications

43.7 Horsepower Turbocharged Yanmar Diesel

The John Deere 3720 is the highest-powered tractor in this 3X20 group. It uses a Yanmar 3TNV84HT three-cylinder diesel engine.

John Deere rates gross power at 43.7 horsepower. Displacement remains 1.5 liters, or about 91.5 cubic inches.

The engine uses turbocharging and added charge-air technology to produce more power from the compact engine package.

35 PTO Horsepower

John Deere lists estimated PTO output at 35 horsepower for the 3720 eHydro. Therefore, it offers the highest PTO output among these four tractors.

Extra power can help with demanding implements. Still, every attachment must match the tractor's hitch, weight, PTO speed, and operating limits.

Follow the John Deere and attachment manuals before use.

3X20 Series Transmission Options

John Deere eHydro Transmission

John Deere offered eHydro on the 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720. This hydrostatic system gives the operator infinitely variable forward and reverse travel within its ranges.

Three travel ranges help match speed to the job. For example, Deere lists a maximum of about 19 mph with one common agricultural tire setup.

Actual travel speed changes with tire size. Therefore, tire choice matters when comparing published speed data.

PowrReverser Transmission

John Deere also offered a 12-forward and 12-reverse PowrReverser transmission on the 3120, 3320, and 3520. This option uses four-wheel drive.

The PowrReverser can be useful when a job requires repeated direction changes. Loader work is one common example.

The 3720 specification data lists eHydro rather than the PowrReverser option.

Mechanical Front-Wheel Drive

John Deere lists mechanical front-wheel drive as standard on all four tractors. This feature can add traction during loader, snow, and ground work.

Four-wheel drive does not remove the risk of sliding. Therefore, slow down on ice, slopes, wet ground, and loose snow.

Use the correct ballast for the attachment and job.

Power Steering and Wet Disc Brakes

The 3X20 tractors use hydrostatic power steering. This reduces steering effort, especially when a front attachment adds weight.

John Deere also uses wet disc brakes. The enclosed design keeps the braking surfaces in oil.

Keep both systems in good condition. A cab does not change the tractor's steering or braking limits.

3X20 Series Hydraulic System

John Deere lists an open-center hydraulic system for these tractors. The main implement pump provides about 8.6 gallons per minute at rated engine speed.

The power-steering pump adds about 5.3 gallons per minute. Therefore, total published pump flow is about 13.9 gallons per minute.

Working pressure is listed at about 2,500 psi. Always compare both flow and pressure with the needs of a hydraulic attachment.

Category I Three-Point Hitch

The 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720 use a Category I three-point hitch. John Deere lists lift capacity at 24 inches behind the link arms at about 2,200 pounds.

That rating does not mean every 2,200-pound attachment is safe. Implement length, center of gravity, ballast, tires, and terrain all affect stability.

Use a properly sized implement and follow Deere ballast guidance.

Rear and Mid PTO

John Deere lists an independent wet-clutch PTO system. Rear PTO speed is 540 rpm at rated engine speed.

The mid PTO runs at 2,100 rpm. As a result, equipped tractors can power both rear and suitable mid-mounted equipment.

Never work around a rotating PTO shaft. Stop the tractor and follow the machine manual before service.

13.5-Gallon Fuel Tank on Open-Station Tractors

John Deere lists fuel capacity at about 13.5 gallons for open-operator-station versions of these tractors. Factory-cab tractor data lists a smaller 11.8-gallon capacity.

Cab 40291 is an aftermarket enclosure for compatible open-station tractors. It does not replace or convert the fuel system into the factory-cab configuration.

Always use the capacity and service information for the exact tractor and serial number.

3X20 Series Electrical System

John Deere lists a 12-volt electrical system for these tractors. The published battery rating is 500 cold-cranking amps at 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

Alternator output is listed at 40 amps. That charging system supports the tractor electrical equipment and properly installed approved accessories.

Cab 40291 includes an electric windshield wiper. Therefore, route and connect its wiring exactly as the installation instructions direct.

John Deere 3120 vs. 3320 vs. 3520 vs. 3720

All four tractors share a similar compact utility design. Yet engine power rises as you move through the series.

The 3120 provides 29.5 gross horsepower. Next, the 3320 reaches 32.4 horsepower. The 3520 increases output to 37.2 horsepower, while the 3720 reaches 43.7 gross horsepower.

PTO output follows the same basic pattern. However, transmission choice changes some PTO ratings on the 3320 and 3520.

Despite these engine differences, Original Tractor Cab 40291 fits all four models.

John Deere Parts and Service Information

The History of Original Tractor Cab Company

Original Tractor Cab began in 1939. At that time, Indiana farmer Stanley Williams wanted better protection from the weather while he worked on his tractor.

So, Stanley designed a cab for his own machine. Other farmers saw the idea and soon wanted similar weather protection.

Williams placed a small ad in a farm magazine. The strong reply showed that many farmers shared the same need. As a result, one practical farm idea became Original Tractor Cab Co., Inc.

A Company Born From a Real Need

The first Original Tractor Cab solved a simple problem. Farm work did not stop just because rain, wind, snow, or cold arrived.

Better operator cover had clear value. Therefore, Stanley's cab quickly drew interest from other farmers.

Practical weather protection became the base of the company.

Original Tractor Cab During World War II

World War II changed the young company's work. During the war, normal tractor cab production stopped.

Instead, Original Tractor Cab used its manufacturing skills to make canvas items for the war effort. After the war, the company returned to weather protection products.

That period became part of a company story that now spans more than eight decades.

Robert Williams and the Snowblower Cab

The second generation brought another important idea. During the 1960s, Stanley's son Robert designed and patented a cab for walk-behind snowblowers.

Soon after, Original Tractor Cab added cabs for lawn and garden tractors. Thus, the company began serving more than large farm tractors.

The product line kept growing as outdoor equipment changed.

Wayne Williams and the Sunshade

A third generation later added warm-weather protection. In the early 1990s, Stanley's grandson Wayne designed and patented a sunshade for tractors and lawn and garden equipment.

The sunshade helped reduce direct exposure to the hot sun. Therefore, Original Tractor Cab could serve equipment operators in summer as well as winter.

Sunshades and canopies became another key part of the company's product line.

From Early Farm Tractors to Compact Utility Tractors

Tractor design changed greatly after 1939. Compact utility tractors became stronger, easier to use, and able to handle a wide range of attachments.

Original Tractor Cab changed with the equipment. So, the company developed model-fit enclosures for compact tractors such as the John Deere 3X20 Series.

Cab 40291 is part of that long line of practical weather protection products.

Three Generations of American Manufacturing

The Williams family carried Original Tractor Cab forward through three generations. During that time, the company expanded into tractors, lawn and garden equipment, snowblowers, mowers, and zero-turn machines.

New products came and equipment changed. Yet the core idea remained simple: help outdoor equipment operators get more cover from the weather.

That same idea remains easy to see in Cab 40291 today.

Made in the USA Since 1939

Original Tractor Cab remains based in Arlington, Indiana. The company also continues its long American manufacturing tradition.

More than eight decades have passed since Stanley Williams built his first cab. However, outdoor operators still face rain, snow, sleet, wind, cold, and sun.

Cab 40291 carries that history to John Deere 3120, 3320, 3520, and 3720 owners.
