The John Deere 790 and 3005 are compact diesel tractors made for farms, large yards and property care. Both use a three-cylinder diesel engine and a gear drive. So, they can handle a wide range of outdoor jobs.

These tractors share many features. Yet the engines, power ratings and some parts differ. Also, the exact specs may change with the year and setup.

The John Deere 790 uses a Yanmar three-cylinder diesel engine. It has a displacement of about 1.5 liters and a gross power rating of 30 hp.

The engine uses liquid cooling. Plus, it runs at a rated speed of 2,600 rpm.

The rear PTO delivers about 26 hp. So, the tractor can power compatible PTO tools for field and yard work.

John Deere 790 Transmission and Drive

The John Deere 790 has an eight-speed gear transmission. It offers eight forward speeds and two reverse speeds.

The tractor came in two-wheel and four-wheel drive versions. Also, steering features vary with the drive setup.

The hitch can lift about 815 pounds at 24 inches behind the lift points. Yet safe loads depend on ballast and tractor setup.

John Deere 3005 Engine Specifications

The John Deere 3005 uses a Yanmar three-cylinder diesel engine. It has about 1.3 liters of displacement.

The gross power rating is 27.5 hp. Also, the engine uses liquid cooling and direct fuel injection.

Its rated engine speed is 2,600 rpm. The rear PTO delivers about 24 hp for compatible tools.

John Deere 3005 Transmission and Drive

The John Deere 3005 uses an eight-speed sliding gear transmission. It has eight forward gears and two reverse gears.

The tractor came in two-wheel and four-wheel drive versions. Plus, steering equipment varies with the drive layout.

This gear drive works well for many farm and property tasks. Yet the operator must use the clutch and gears with care.

John Deere 3005 Fuel and Hydraulic System

The John Deere 3005 has a fuel tank of about 6.3 US gallons. Its hydraulic system holds about four US gallons.

The open-center hydraulic system supplies flow to compatible tools. Also, the tractor can use select loader and hitch equipment.

John Deere 3005 PTO and Work Tools

The 3005 has a rear PTO for powered implements. John Deere also offered an optional mid-PTO kit for some setups.

The tractor can use select front loaders and rear tools. So, it serves many needs on farms and large lots.

John Deere 790 vs. John Deere 3005

The John Deere 790 offers about 30 gross horsepower. In contrast, the 3005 offers about 27.5 gross horsepower.

The History of Original Tractor Cab Company – Made in the USA Since 1939

A Farm Idea That Began in 1939

Original Tractor Cab began in 1939. At that time, farmer Stanley Williams needed more cover from the weather while he worked.

So, Stanley made a cab for his own farm tractor. His goal was simple. He wanted to work with less rain, wind and cold on his body.

Other farmers soon saw his new cab. They too had to work in harsh weather. So, they asked for the same kind of cover.

That first cab became the start of Original Tractor Cab Co., Inc. The company grew from a real need on an American farm.

From One Cab to a Growing Business

Stanley knew what farm work was like. He also knew how cold and wet the job could be.

So, he kept working on useful cab designs. More farmers began to see the value of weather cover.

As demand grew, the company grew as well. Yet its main goal stayed much the same.

Make outdoor work less harsh for the people who do it. That goal still guides our work.

Original Tractor Cab During World War II

World War II brought new needs for goods and supplies. So, Original Tractor Cab changed its work to help the war effort.

The company made backpacks and other needed goods for military use. This work showed the range of its manufacturing skills.

After the war, the firm went back to making products for farm and outdoor work.

New Cabs for Lawn and Garden Equipment

As the years went by, outdoor machines changed. Lawn tractors and snow blowers became more common.

So, Original Tractor Cab added new products for these machines. The company grew beyond its first farm tractor cab designs.

More people could now add weather cover to the tools they used at home and at work.

Sunshades for Warm Weather Work

Cold weather was not the only concern. Hot sun could also make long days hard.

So, the company added sunshades to its product range. These shades help block direct sun from above.

As a result, Original Tractor Cab could help more operators through the year.

Three Generations of American Manufacturing

The Williams family carried the company forward through three generations. Each generation brought new ideas and products.

Yet the core goal stayed the same. Make useful weather covers for people who work outdoors.

Today, the company makes hardtop cabs, soft enclosures, sunshades and cab parts. Plus, its products serve many types of outdoor equipment.

Made in Arlington, Indiana

Original Tractor Cab is based in Arlington, Indiana. We take pride in our long history of American manufacturing.

Our products help farmers, homeowners and grounds crews work with more comfort. So, we keep making weather covers for the machines they use.

Cab 11137 Carries on the Tradition

The John Deere 790 and 3005E came long after Stanley built his first cab. Yet the need for weather cover remains.

Rain still falls. Snow still blows. Cold wind can still make work feel long.

So, Cab 11137 brings that same basic idea to these compact utility tractors.
