Simplicity Legacy XL Hardtop Cab 11346
Keep working through cold, snow, sleet, rain, and wind with Original Tractor Cab Hardtop Cab 11346. This model-fit enclosure is made for select Simplicity Legacy XL and GT600 sub-compact garden tractors with the correct older-style add-on ROPS.
Cab 11346 fits the Simplicity Legacy XL 2927, Legacy XL 2027, and GT600 Sub-Compact Garden Tractor applications listed by Original Tractor Cab. Therefore, owners should check both the tractor model and ROPS style before ordering.
A tough ABS plastic hardtop provides solid overhead cover. Meanwhile, clear shatter-resistant Lexan material in the side doors and rear curtain helps keep the work area in view.
Best of all, Cab 11346 includes a glass windshield and an electric windshield wiper. So, this cab is ready to add useful foul-weather coverage to a compatible Legacy XL.
Original Tractor Cab 11346 for the Simplicity Legacy XL
A Simplicity Legacy XL can work well beyond mowing season. Owners can use compatible attachments for snow removal and other property jobs.
However, an open operator station leaves the driver exposed to bad weather. Cab 11346 adds a full enclosure around much of the operator area.
That makes the tractor more useful when the weather turns cold or wet.
Fits Legacy XL 2927, 2027 and GT600 Applications
Original Tractor Cab currently lists Cab 11346 for the Legacy XL 2927, Legacy XL 2027, and GT600 Sub-Compact Garden Tractor.
Still, model name alone is not enough to confirm fit. The ROPS design also matters.
Therefore, inspect your tractor before placing an order.
Important Legacy XL ROPS Fit Information
Cab 11346 is made for the older-style Legacy XL with an add-on ROPS. Original Tractor Cab identifies this fit as OTC 11346 and Simplicity 1696679.
Simplicity Legacy XL tractors have used different ROPS arrangements over time. As a result, two tractors with the Legacy XL name may require different cab products.
Check the ROPS before you buy.
Do Not Choose a Cab by Model Name Alone
The Legacy XL line changed through its long production life. Engines, ROPS designs, controls, attachments, and other parts can vary.
So, compare your tractor with current Cab 11346 fit information. If the ROPS does not match the listed older add-on design, confirm fit with Original Tractor Cab first.
Never alter the ROPS to force a cab to fit.
Fully Enclosed Hardtop Tractor Cab
Cab 11346 surrounds much of the Legacy XL operator area. Unlike an open sunshade, it adds side doors, a rear curtain, a windshield, and a hard roof.
Therefore, the enclosure can help reduce direct exposure to cold wind, rain, snow, and sleet. The cab is not sealed or heated, but it adds a useful barrier between the operator and the weather.
That can make winter work more comfortable.
Hard ABS Plastic Roof
Original Tractor Cab uses an ABS plastic hardtop on Cab 11346. The solid roof provides overhead coverage during outdoor work.
Snow and rain can strike the roof instead of falling directly on the operator. Meanwhile, the roof helps give the enclosure a firm upper structure.
Always check overhead clearance after installation.
Glass Windshield Included
Cab 11346 includes a glass windshield. That is an important feature for owners who plan to use a Legacy XL during winter weather.
Glass provides a firm, clear forward viewing surface. In addition, it supports the included electric windshield wiper.
Keep the glass clean before each job.
Electric Windshield Wiper Included
An electric windshield wiper is included with Cab 11346. Therefore, you do not need to add the basic wiper as a separate upgrade.
The wiper can help clear moisture and light snow from the glass during normal use. However, heavy ice should be removed safely before operating the wiper.
Never run the wiper across heavy frozen buildup.
Clear Lexan Side Doors
Clear shatter-resistant Lexan plastic is used in the side doors. So, the operator can gain weather coverage without giving up the side view needed for tractor work.
Good visibility matters around attachments, buildings, trees, vehicles, and other objects. Therefore, keep the clear door material clean and free from deep scratches.
Stop work if visibility becomes poor.
Clear Rear Curtain
Cab 11346 also uses clear shatter-resistant Lexan material in the rear curtain. This helps maintain the operator's view behind the tractor.
Rear sight is important when backing or working around attachments. Likewise, it can help when operating in a tight yard or work area.
Always look before moving the tractor.
Hinged Cab Doors With Latches
The side doors are hinged and use latches. As a result, the operator can open the enclosure for normal entry and exit.
A latched door also helps keep the enclosure in position during use. Still, each door should open and close freely after installation.
Never operate with a damaged latch.
Easy Entry and Exit
A tractor cab should never trap the operator or block normal movement. Therefore, test both doors before starting the engine.
Sit in the normal operating position and make sure the controls remain easy to reach. Then, confirm that you can leave the cab without obstruction.
Correct any issue before use.
No Holes to Drill for Normal Installation
Original Tractor Cab states that Cab 11346 mounts with existing tractor holes. So, normal installation does not require drilling new holes in the tractor.
That helps preserve the tractor while keeping installation more direct. However, all supplied brackets and hardware must be placed as the current instructions show.
Do not create your own mounting points.
Do Not Drill or Alter the ROPS
The ROPS is tractor safety equipment. Therefore, never drill, cut, weld, bend, remove, or weaken it to install Cab 11346.
The cab must work with the correct ROPS arrangement. If your tractor does not match the fit guide, stop and confirm the application.
Keep the ROPS and seat belt system intact.
Cab Installation Takes About Three to Four Hours
Original Tractor Cab estimates normal installation at roughly three to four hours. Actual time can vary with experience, tractor condition, and installed equipment.
Read the instructions before starting. Next, identify the hardware and mounting points.
A careful installation can prevent fit problems later.
Cab Removal Takes About 45 Minutes
Original Tractor Cab estimates removal at about 45 minutes. That can be useful for owners who want the enclosure during winter but prefer an open tractor in warm weather.
Store removed cab parts in a clean and dry place. Also, protect the clear panels and glass from impact.
Keep all hardware together for the next installation.
Cab 11346 Has an Installed Height of About 75 Inches
Original Tractor Cab lists the installed cab height at about 75 inches. Therefore, the enclosure adds an important clearance point to the tractor.
Measure your actual machine after the cab is installed. Tire size, ground surface, and tractor setup can affect final height.
Never rely on a close guess around overhead objects.
Watch Garage Doors and Tree Limbs
A hard roof can strike objects that once cleared the open tractor. So, check garage doors, sheds, tree branches, trailers, signs, and other low structures.
Slow down whenever clearance is limited. If you are not sure the cab will clear, do not drive under the object.
Protect both the cab and tractor from impact.
Rain Protection for the Legacy XL
Property work does not always happen on a dry day. Cab 11346 helps shield the operator from rain with its roof, windshield, doors, and rear enclosure.
However, this cab is not a sealed waterproof compartment. Wind-driven rain may still enter through gaps.
Stop work if weather creates unsafe conditions.
Wind Protection During Cold Jobs
Cold wind can make an open tractor uncomfortable very quickly. Therefore, the enclosure can add real value during fall and winter work.
The windshield and side panels help reduce direct wind around the operator. Meanwhile, the rear curtain closes much of the area behind the seat.
Dress for the outdoor temperature even with the cab installed.
Snow Protection for Winter Tractor Work
A Legacy XL can support snow-removal attachments on compatible configurations. Yet moving snow often puts the tractor directly in blowing winter weather.
Cab 11346 helps keep much of that snow away from the operator. In addition, the glass windshield and electric wiper can help maintain the forward view.
That makes the enclosure well suited to winter use.
Sleet and Freezing Weather
Sleet can strike the operator and cover the windshield during a storm. Therefore, the cab provides a useful physical barrier during normal work.
Still, freezing moisture can build on glass, doors, and tractor surfaces. Remove heavy ice safely before operating the tractor.
Never drive when you cannot see clearly.
Cab 11346 Is Not Certified Hail Protection
The hard roof can provide overhead weather coverage. However, Cab 11346 is not a certified hail or impact protective structure.
Therefore, do not remain outdoors during dangerous hail or severe storms because the cab is installed. Seek safe shelter when severe weather develops.
The enclosure is made for normal weather protection.
Use the Cab With Compatible Legacy XL Attachments
One reason owners choose the Legacy XL is its ability to handle many jobs. Compatible equipment has included mower decks, blades, snow equipment, and front-end loaders on certain configurations.
However, cab fit does not prove attachment clearance. Therefore, inspect each attachment with the cab installed.
Stop use if any equipment contacts the enclosure.
Snow Blade Use
A front blade can turn the Legacy XL into a useful snow-moving tractor. Meanwhile, Cab 11346 can help keep the operator out of direct wind and blowing snow.
Still, the blade changes the tractor's working length and handling. So, follow Simplicity instructions for the exact blade and tractor.
Keep people away from the work area.
Snowblower Attachment Use
Compatible Legacy XL configurations can use front snow-removal equipment. Therefore, a hardtop cab can be especially useful during winter attachment work.
Watch the discharge path whenever a snowblower is in use. Also, make sure snow or ice does not block the windshield.
Cab 11346 is not a thrown-debris shield.
Use Care With a Front-End Loader
Simplicity has offered front-end loader capability on Legacy XL tractors. However, loader work requires a wide and clear view of the bucket and work area.
Therefore, confirm that Cab 11346 and the installed loader can operate together on your exact tractor configuration. Never continue if the cab blocks a needed view or control.
Follow all loader limits in the tractor manual.
Never Use the Cab as a Safety Structure
The cab frame and hard roof are made to support the weather enclosure. They are not a certified ROPS or falling-object structure.
So, never rely on Cab 11346 for rollover or loader impact protection. Keep the factory ROPS in place and use the seat belt as Simplicity directs.
The cab does not replace factory safety systems.
Clear Panels Need Proper Care
The Lexan side and rear material gives the operator a wide view. However, improper cleaning can scratch clear plastic.
Use mild soap, water, and a soft clean cloth when needed. Then, rinse away dirt that could scratch the surface.
Avoid rough brushes and harsh cleaners.
Care for the Glass Windshield
The front windshield is glass, so normal glass care can help keep it clear. Still, use products that are safe around the nearby cab materials.
Remove heavy ice without forcing the wiper. Likewise, inspect the wiper blade before winter work begins.
Replace damaged parts before use.

Simplicity Legacy XL Tractor Specifications
The Legacy XL is a sub-compact garden tractor built for more than lawn mowing. Simplicity designed the line to combine garden tractor comfort with the work ability of a small compact tractor.
However, Legacy XL specifications changed through the years. Therefore, engine power, drive features, PTO equipment, deck size, ROPS, and attachments can vary by model.
Use the exact tractor identification number for service work.
Simplicity Legacy XL Engine
Later Legacy XL tractors use Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Big Block V-Twin gasoline engines. Published Simplicity specifications show an 885 cc engine on later machines.
Depending on configuration, Simplicity offered versions rated at 31 or 33 gross horsepower. In addition, certain 33 horsepower tractors use electronic fuel injection.
Older Legacy XL versions may have different engine specifications.
Vanguard Big Block V-Twin Power
The Vanguard Big Block is a large V-Twin gasoline engine. Simplicity paired it with the Legacy XL to provide power for mowing and attachment work.
An 885 cc displacement appears in later factory literature. Meanwhile, EFI versions provide automotive-style starting without a manual choke.
Always service the exact engine installed on your tractor.
Electronic Fuel Injection
Simplicity offered electronic fuel injection on selected Legacy XL models. Factory literature describes EFI as helping provide easy hot and cold restarts.
EFI can also improve fuel management compared with a traditional carburetor. However, not every Legacy XL uses EFI.
Check the engine before buying service parts.
Two-Wheel Drive and Four-Wheel Drive
The Legacy XL line includes four-wheel-drive capability on many configurations. Simplicity literature also describes on-the-go shifting between 2WD and 4WD on applicable models.
Four-wheel drive can add traction during snow work, loader use, and work on soft ground. Still, added traction does not make unsafe slopes safe.
Follow the tractor manual for 4WD use.
Four-Wheel Drive for Winter Work
Snow can reduce traction very quickly. Therefore, 4WD can be useful when a Legacy XL pushes or blows snow.
Tire choice, chains, ballast, and attachment setup can also affect traction. So, use only equipment approved for the exact tractor.
Drive slowly on snow and ice.
Legacy XL Hydrostatic Drive
The Legacy XL uses hydrostatic drive. This lets the operator control travel speed without shifting through a normal gear transmission.
Hydrostatic drive can be useful while mowing, pushing snow, or working around buildings. As a result, the tractor can change speed smoothly as the job changes.
Use a safe speed for the terrain.
Power Steering
Legacy XL tractors use power steering on applicable models. That can reduce steering effort when mowing or working with front-mounted equipment.
Power steering is especially useful on a tractor designed for a wide range of attachments. However, steering response can change when heavy equipment is installed.
Follow ballast and attachment guidance.
Legacy XL Hydraulic Attachment Control
Simplicity factory literature shows an integrated hydraulic joystick on later Legacy XL tractors.
The control can raise, lower, or position compatible attachments such as the mower deck, dozer blade, or front-end loader. Therefore, the operator can control key equipment from the seat.
Cab 11346 must never block joystick movement.
Check Hydraulic Controls After Cab Installation
Sit in the normal operating position after installing the enclosure. Then, move the hydraulic controls through their normal range with the engine off when appropriate.
Make sure no door, panel, bracket, or other cab part blocks the controls. Likewise, check steering and pedal clearance.
Correct interference before operation.
Legacy XL Mower Deck Sizes
Later Simplicity literature lists 52-inch and 61-inch fabricated mower decks for the Legacy XL.
A 52-inch deck can work well where space is tighter. In contrast, a 61-inch deck covers more ground with each pass.
Deck choices vary by tractor year and configuration.
Simplicity Free Floating Mower Deck
Simplicity is known for its Free Floating mower deck design. The deck follows the ground while rollers help create the striped cut associated with many Simplicity tractors.
The system focuses on lawn quality. Meanwhile, the Legacy XL tractor provides the power needed to handle a large deck.
Use the correct deck setup for your machine.
Legacy XL Rear PTO
Selected Legacy XL configurations include a 540 rpm rear PTO. This feature expands the type of compatible equipment the tractor can operate.
However, not every Legacy XL has the same PTO setup. Therefore, confirm the tractor specification before buying a rear attachment.
Keep all PTO guards in place.
PTO Safety
A rotating PTO can cause severe injury. So, never work near the shaft while it is moving.
Shut the tractor down and follow Simplicity instructions before attaching, removing, or servicing PTO-driven equipment.
Cab 11346 does not protect against PTO hazards.
Legacy XL Operator Comfort
Simplicity designed the Legacy XL with operator comfort in mind. Later factory literature shows a deep-cushioned 18-inch high-back seat with armrests.
The tractor also uses an easy-to-read instrument area on later models. Therefore, the operator can monitor key machine information from the seat.
Cab 11346 adds weather coverage around that operator area.
Legacy XL Instrument Panel
Later Legacy XL literature shows a deluxe instrument panel with a fuel gauge and height-of-cut indicator.
That information helps the operator monitor the tractor during mowing and other work. Still, instrument layouts can differ on older Legacy XL machines.
Use the manual for your exact tractor.
Legacy XL Utility Light
Simplicity literature shows an adjustable utility light on later Legacy XL tractors. The light can help during low-light work.
However, Cab 11346 fit depends on the older-style add-on ROPS configuration. Therefore, light and ROPS arrangements should be checked on the actual tractor.
Never relocate safety equipment without approved instructions.
Legacy XL Front-End Loader Capability
One feature that separates the Legacy XL from many ordinary garden tractors is its ability to use a compatible front-end loader on certain configurations.
A loader can move mulch, soil, gravel, and other loose material. However, load limits, ballast, and safe operating practices must always come from Simplicity.
Never exceed the tractor's rated limits.
Cab Visibility During Loader Work
The operator must see the loader and surrounding work area. Therefore, keep the windshield and doors clean.
Never use the tractor if Cab 11346 blocks a needed view. In addition, stop if a loader component can contact the cab.
Clearance must be confirmed before work.
Legacy XL Snow Removal Capability
The Legacy XL can serve as a four-season property tractor when equipped with compatible attachments.
Snow blades and snowblower equipment can turn the machine into a winter work tool. As a result, a weather enclosure can add value well beyond mowing season.
Cab 11346 is especially useful during this type of work.
Why a Hardtop Cab Makes Sense in Winter
A snow attachment handles the snow on the ground. Meanwhile, Cab 11346 helps deal with weather around the operator.
The roof provides overhead cover. Likewise, the glass windshield, doors, and rear curtain help reduce direct exposure to blowing snow and cold wind.
The electric wiper helps support a clear forward view.
Legacy XL Specifications Vary by Year
The Legacy XL name covers tractors produced across different years and configurations. Therefore, the later 31 and 33 horsepower specifications should not be applied to every older Legacy XL.
Cab 11346 itself is tied to the older-style add-on ROPS fit described by Original Tractor Cab. So, identify the tractor before using specifications for service or parts.
The product number gives the best starting point.

The History of Original Tractor Cab Company
Original Tractor Cab began in 1939. At that time, Indiana farmer Stanley Williams needed better protection from the weather while using his tractor.
So, Stanley designed a cab for his own machine. Other farmers soon saw the value of his idea and wanted weather protection too.
One practical farm solution became a business.
Born From a Real Need on the Farm
Open tractors left operators exposed to rain, snow, wind, and cold. Stanley Williams knew that problem from his own farm work.
Therefore, he built a product to solve a need he faced himself. Other farmers quickly understood why better operator coverage could help.
Demand began to grow.
A Small Farm Idea Grows
Stanley placed a small advertisement in a farm magazine. The response showed that farmers outside his local area wanted similar weather protection.
As a result, his idea became the foundation of Original Tractor Cab. The company dates its beginning to 1939.
American farm work shaped the first products.
Original Tractor Cab During World War II
World War II soon changed the young company's work. Normal tractor cab production stopped while manufacturing shifted to support the war effort.
Original Tractor Cab made backpacks and other needed military goods during this period. After the war, the company returned its focus to outdoor equipment products.
The market continued to change.
New Equipment Creates New Cab Ideas
Farm and lawn equipment changed greatly in the decades after World War II. Garden tractors, snowblowers, compact machines, and other outdoor equipment became common.
Original Tractor Cab adapted to those changes. Therefore, its products began to serve more than traditional farm tractors.
The company kept designing for real operator needs.
Robert Williams and the Snowblower Cab
During the 1960s, Stanley's son Robert Williams saw another need. Walk-behind snowblower operators faced blowing snow and bitter winter wind.
Robert designed and patented a cab for walk-behind snowblowers. As a result, Original Tractor Cab entered another part of the outdoor equipment market.
Lawn and garden tractor cabs followed.
Wayne Williams and the Sunshade
Cold weather was not the only challenge for outdoor operators. Summer sun also made long work days harder.
In the early 1990s, Stanley's grandson Wayne Williams designed and patented a sunshade for tractors and lawn and garden equipment. Thus, the company expanded its operator protection products into warm-weather use.
Another product category was born.
Three Generations of the Williams Family
Three generations of the Williams family helped guide Original Tractor Cab. Each generation added ideas as outdoor machines and customer needs changed.
Still, the main goal stayed simple. Make useful products for people who spend time working outside.
Cab 11346 follows that same goal.
Made in the USA Since 1939
Original Tractor Cab remains based in Arlington, Indiana. Today, the company makes hardtop cabs, soft enclosures, sunshades, snow equipment cabs, and related accessories.
The equipment has changed greatly since Stanley Williams built his first cab. Yet rain, snow, sleet, wind, cold, and sun remain part of outdoor work.
Weather protection still has a clear purpose.
From Early Farm Cabs to the Simplicity Legacy XL
Stanley's first tractor was far different from a Simplicity Legacy XL. However, both machines place the operator outdoors while work needs to get done.
Cab 11346 brings the old Original Tractor Cab idea to a modern type of property tractor. It adds a hard roof, clear enclosure, glass windshield, and wiper to a compatible Legacy XL.
That connects more than eight decades of product history.
